1357051 2003-01-28 21:43:00 Windows 98 -
Can't run printer off USB -
Starts printing the first 5 lines then dead.
Print settings are OK.
runs OK connected to parallel port.
Have this listed in "Device Manager" - Under "Universal Serial Bus Controller"
Intel(R)82801BA/Bam USB Universal Host Controller 2442
Intel(R)82801BA/Bam USB Universal Host Controller 2444
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
Properties tell me "this device is working properly"

Printer runs Ok on my other puter through USB.
Was told the USB chip on motherboard could be dead?
Any ideas
Thanks

1357053 2003-01-29 21:14:00 Hi Steve
Sorry but gave you the wrong info. - got puters mixed up
Correct info
Windows98 - 128 ram celeron 400 - Printer - Canon bjc 2100sp -motherboard chipset is via vt82c693a apollo pro133
Have got it workin, but still not quiet right.
In "device manager" under "usb controller" I have
canon bjc 2100sp
usb root hub
usb root hub
via vt83c572/vt82c586 pci to usb universal host controller
via vt83c572/vt82c586 pci to usb universal host controller

Under printer properties
"print to the following port" is usbprn01(canon bjc 2100-7cn9ec)
also it will only print a full page if I set Spool Setting to "print directly to the printer"
Will only print 5 lines in print "test page"
ps - printer was workin ok but this happened out of the blue
Thanks

1357054 2003-01-29 23:18:00 lol ,Go to via site & download their usb drivers for your mother board, similar thing was happening to my usb cd-writer, It would start writing & a few mins later I would have a coaster :-( It works fine now i have installed drivers from VIA.
The file I got is called usbf_110.zip
not sure if it is the same for all mobo's with via chipset.
