116732 2003-01-27 01:04:00 Hello,

Everytime I search for files on my computer, a drop-down menu appears and lists a history of all the files I've searched for beginning with the letter I first type. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the search history?

By the way, it's not the one in Internet Explorer, it's the one where you search for files on your own computer.

Regards
Michael

116733 2003-01-27 01:35:00 I know this can be done, although I don't quite remember how . Try looking around the Options or Help in Windows Explorer/My Computer .

What version of Windows are you running?

116734 2003-01-27 01:37:00 If you are running Windows XP, then do this:

1. Click on Search.
2. In the Search Companian Menu, under "You may also want to..." click "Change Preferences"
3. Click on "Turn Autocomplete Off".

Try that, if it still doesn't work, then somebody else might know how it can be done.

116735 2004-01-21 00:43:00 Sorry for bringing up a year old post but I didn't want to double post. So....does anyone know how to get rid of the search history completely?

Also, in msn messenger and windows messenger when you click on the blank place where you type your email address a history of all the email addresses you've signed in with appears. Does anybody know how to get rid of this?

Thanks
Michael
