117325 2003-01-30 09:53:00 How's this for coincidences. I received an email earlier warning about the teddy bear virus - a hoax that's been doing the rounds for months.

If it was just the hoax the delete key would have been pressed before I could blink but this one came with a twist.

It had been forwarded a couple of times and the last sender bore my brother's name.

Now I know that there is absolutely no way my brother would have sent the email to the person who sent it to us. Just not possible.

So I'm sitting there staring at the thing wondering if viruses have reached new levels of mutation, checking out Nortons and generally getting paranoid. Nothing comes up so I email him asking "What's the story?"

Have just received a puzzled email in reply saying "Who are you?" Two people with the same far from common name living at opposite ends of the country.

A small world with viruses the key to finding long lost relatives?

Erm... me thinks you don't get it :D It turned out to be someone with the same name, not the result of a virus. Though I would be terrified if hoaxes and viruses combined powers. Then they wouldn't be hoaxes anymore, would they?

and Greg ... I've seen enough virii and hoaxes to recognise signs at a glance (have only been hit once with KAK in an anti-virus free week whilst doing a slow reinstall).
