| 117278 | 2003-01-30 07:49:00 | And to all of you who have heard this one before this does not mean a login problem. In a weak moment I agreed to look at a misbehaving computer. Turned it on and it doesn't do anything at all except whir quietly to itself. So I went to pop the lid BUT the only screws hold the power supply in place. It's a vertical box. There are a few 3 rivets holding the top on, one side looks as though it is accessible only from the inside and the other side has (on the back of the machine) 5 small half round slots (2mm high x 7mm wide) which seems to cover a metal bar of some sort. There are also 5 metal clip things in a recessed grove behind the slots. I've tried poking them and putting in a screwdriver to lift the bar but can't figure it out. The badge on the front says "Vision Co Systems Ltd" but there are no clues as to who made the case. Any ideas? |

| 117280 | 2003-01-30 08:01:00 | The front cover won't slide anywhere. There is a floppy disk and a removable hard drive sitting in it. Ah ha! Amend that! By poking the screwdriver under the side of the plastic front cover it lifted off! And Voila! screws exposed! Now to see if I can figure out what's wrong with it. Thanks Wotz, a second mind helps the thought processes. |

| 117282 | 2003-01-30 09:23:00 | It was rather hot earlier, my daughter had taken over my computer so I thought I'd get stuck into her boyfriend's friend's problem in a cramped space. (Did I mention the weak moment?) After turning it this way and that , proding and pushing gently I gave up until this evening. Since then more general insanity has prevailed and I haven't got any further. But at least I've found the screws! This could be a slow process. |
