| 117053 | 2003-01-29 04:30:00 | Just recently a program called windows explorer is trying to access the internet. Fortunately my firewall has stopped it from doing so, but few questions remain. What is windows explorer? Is it part of Windows ME? If not how come I have it, also considering that it was not there before? I find it strange, also, that it is trying to go online.........Should I delete it? And if I delete it will I damage the OS? Thank you in advance for your help. |

| 117054 | 2003-01-29 05:04:00 | Windows Explorer would the program that you use when you look around the files and folders on your harddrive. I wouldn't recommend deleting it unless you had a VERY GOOD reason to do so. It's rather integral to the running on windows. |

It is part of all Windows versions and it would have always been on your computer . I have also noticed my Win Explorer wanting to go off to goodness-knows-where on the internet and I don't allow it to do so . As far as I'm concerned it has has no business doing so and my firewall is set to not allow it out . Don't delete it (I doubt you'd be able to anyway), just block it . | 117059 | 2003-01-29 07:33:00 | It certainly is not a virus (I think) for I scan for viruses regularly with McAfee and PestPatrol. Anyhow, it is a relief to know that it is part of the pc.
