117293 2003-01-30 08:55:00 got this floppy image file extention .dsk
inside it contains linux system file
it is a bootable image for burning onto a cd for floppy emulation

is there a way i can get this image onto a actual physical floppy disk
instead of putting it on cd and emulate it as floppy

many dsk writing tools are for linux only
is there some raw writing tool for windows that i can use

117294 2003-01-30 08:58:00 I think that if you do a google search for:
rawwrite.exe
or:
rawrite.exe
it'll yeild a few results, and one can be used for that purpose AFAIK!

117295 2003-01-31 04:18:00 I think that every distribution has a "dosutils" directory on the first CD . That will contain RAWRITE . EXE . Otherwise it will be in many places on the Internet . It is a DOS programme .

It will write an image directly to a floppy; it does not create files and DOS directory entries . However, it suffers from the DOS lack of error checking, so the disk needs to be perfect . (It does not look at the FAT so even if formatting has marked any bad sectors they will still be used) . I think it's an Error 10 when using the floppy if it was faulty .

If you have a working Linux installtion, you can use dd to do the same: dd if=thefile . dsk of=/dev/fd0 bs=72k is what I use . (Don't mount the floppy . . . just insert it . )
