| 117654 | 2003-02-01 08:48:00 | Hi... Had to re-install Win98 today and altho my machine is now going great, I'm having this strange browser trouble. The version of IE that came with the reinstall is IE 4 and before I upgrade it I thought I'd try Opera.. but I cant contact the Opera site. The bar at the bottom that shows progress goes quickly to near the end of the box then freezes...and my screen freezes too! I can clear it with control-alt-delete but no amount of re-trying will change the above process. Even a restart. Surely Bill could not have been mean enough to put some sort of block into IE4. Could he??? IE4 sails thru to all the other addresses I've tried tonight, NZ or overseas. Any help with this would be good...Ken |

| 117657 | 2003-02-01 20:45:00 | If you get the PC World magazine the July 2002 cover CD has Opera on it. It has been updated since then but it might be enough to get you going. | Susan B (19) | ||
| 117658 | 2003-02-01 22:46:00 | i would upgrade IE anyway as you will need to do windows updates. once that is all done then go download opera. (get the non-java ver and get sun java. this will save you installing MS java) | tweak'e (174) | ||
| 117659 | 2003-02-02 10:45:00 | Hi... thanks for the replies...the opera download site does the same thing but download.com and tucows seem to be OK. and opera is coming down to me right now. Yes it must be something lacking in my browser to handle the opera site, like Java maybe. Cheers Ken |
