2003-01-31 03:37:00 | Well, seeing as things are a little quiet around here I thought Id ask who uses Zip drives and why? A CD-ROM is so much more widely accepted... | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2003-01-31 03:43:00 | It's only quiet cos it's so hard to get on (and stay on!) ;) I've never used a Zip Drive. I personally find CD/RW is the most convenient method for moving data around. I use a DDS tape drive for backups. Cheers Miami

2003-01-31 03:57:00 | Got one in the downstairs computer, don't use it all that often. But I must say that they are very good, fast and hold a decent amount of data. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-01-31 04:02:00 | Yes, but a CD-R/W holds 700MB Data and it takes me about 4 mins to write a whole CD-R! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2003-01-31 04:05:00 | I think I'd look silly with a CD stuck on the front of my trousers. I find a zip works much better. | Graham L (2) | |

2003-01-31 04:22:00 | Zips are handy sometimes, but slow. My zip drive is way more reliable than the four cd-writers I have used. Not really common enough, sod all have them. I tend to use it when I can't log in to forums. robo.

2003-01-31 04:28:00 | Being a little more serious..... ZIP drives work quite well under WinXP.... No drivers needed as supported by the O/S. I have used these under Win 98 and Win 98SE. The main reason I got a Zip drive was to be able to transport files between computers at different locations. You had to install the drivers B4 trying to transfer. These days I use the CDWriter or Email file attach. I have a Customer who has two Zip (External) drives and does a backup at Work and restores at Home. This works for him.
