| 117379 | 2003-01-30 23:40:00 | You're right Curly the power plug from the psu can only go in one place and one way round, maybe Chill was talking about betting the "soft" power switchthat connects to the m/b and the reset button connections the wrong way. I had a similar problem when I used an Abit KT7A, in that case RTFM was no good because the manual didnt say that the cpu fan HAD to be plugged into fan1 connector, even though fan2 connector was nearer the cpu. The bios thought there was no cpu fan so refused to fire up. When I said help to the supplier he knew all about it, I wasnt that pleased as to why he hadnt told me when buying the board. Of course it's always possible that you've bought a lemon, but I hope not. |

| 117382 | 2003-01-31 19:05:00 | Firstly - yea I got logged in !!!!!!!!! Thanks to all who offered help but much big heap of thanks must to to Terry Porritt - thanks. My M/B also has 3 fan headers, named Fan1 Fan2 Fan3. Fan2 is way up the front of the board and CPU lead wont reach it. Fan1 is near the CPU while the Fan3 header is a litle way from the CPU BUT the cable just reaches. Of course Fan1 is the obvious choise but as it turns out- WRONG decision. Fan3 header is the only fan header that will power up the CPU fans . Plug a fan into the others and they work but not the CPU fan. Not docummented of course. Now off to post without spellcheck - without preview :-) |
