| 117861 | 2003-02-03 00:26:00 | I have an old Pentium 200 with Windows 98 2e. Half way through the setup process it stops and asks for my password. How can I get rid of this password request box? Thanks, stupot2 |

| 117863 | 2003-02-03 20:56:00 | I use a password etc on W98 but if I go to network/properties and change the Primary network Logon from "Client for Microsoft Networks" to "Windows Logon" and reboot, the pass word box no longer appears and it boots straight to the Windows desktop. Of course my network access goes west if I do that, so I stick to the former, but if you don't have a network to worry about, try this and see if it sorts it for you. Post back if successful. | 117865 | 2003-02-04 20:58:00 | There is a logon tab in in good old Tweakui that enables/disables automatic logon with a user name and blank password. It's worth trying. However, sometimes nothing you do will remove that box, or else you can end up with the DUN save password greyed out too. I did find a little utility to get around this problem, if I find it again I'll post the url for it. |

| 117866 | 2003-02-04 21:54:00 | No guarantees on this Stupot2, but you could try going to Control Panel/Passwords, go to Change password and leave the new password field blank, and blank in the confirm too. It might default to diabling it ot it might say "the password you have chosen is invalid.' Would try it myself but don't want to get stuck with one of those boxes. mark :) c |

| 117867 | 2003-02-04 22:16:00 | First step: Go to network/properties and change the Primary network Logon from "Client for Microsoft Networks" to "Windows Logon" and reboot If it's still there go to the Second step: Open up Windows Explorer, navigate to C:|Windows. Look for a file extension .pwl (there may be more than one if you have tried to login in under different names.) Delete this file. Reboot. |

I downloaded Tweakui yesterday and now I'm waiting for a friend who knows more about computers than I do to show me where I put it. Thanks again Stupot2 :-( |
