117844 2003-02-02 23:32:00 Hi,

I have recently added another hard drive to my computer and installed XP Home edition. Also running Win ME on the other drive.

I have Office 2000 premium installed on the ME drive running fine :)

When I try to install Office 2000 on the XP OS the installation terminates early with the message 'Installation has terminated prematurely'.
Then 'for assistance contact microsoft support'.

I really don't need the hassle of phoning the states only to be directed to the support pages on the microsoft web page (couldn't find anything there that helped).

So I thought about consulting the thousands of knowledgeable people in here, before I resume bashing my head on the wall!!!

Help!!

117845 2003-02-03 00:02:00 Im assuming you're trying to install it onto the same drive as XP Home.
Check and make sure the CD is not scratched or anything.
I would be inclined to boot into safe mode (Or whatever version of it XP has) and do that, as I had troubles in 2K and office 97 once, and booting into safe-mode for install fixed it!

117846 2003-02-03 08:01:00 Disorder,

The following KB notes may be of help with the problem: See article Off2K Installer Terminated Prematurely During Setup (support.microsoft.com) Try methods 2 & 3. If not try Windows Installer Errors for Off2K (support.microsoft.com) and if necessary see the following article (be warned technical!) Off2K troubleshooting (support.microsoft.com)

Cheers, Babe.
