118213 2003-02-04 04:37:00 Hi
When I boot up, 7 out if 10 times I get a message saying "Windows did not detect a mouse attached....etc", shut it down, unplug the mouse, plug it back in again, reboot and it works !
Also I can be working away (in any app) and the mouse just stops working ! I've tried about 4 PS/2 mice and same thing
What the heck is the prob, its driving me nuts
HELP !

118214 2003-02-04 04:43:00 I wonder if the PS/2 socket on the motherboard is damaged. If so, a serial mouse would be the cheapest fix. Graham L (2)
118215 2003-02-04 04:59:00 Or a USB! Thomas (1820)
118216 2003-02-04 05:00:00 If I use a serial port do I have to make any changes to any thing ?
Thanks

118217 2003-02-04 05:04:00 I think that Windows will detect it and make any changes itself. It will look for the PS/2 one first, and if it doesn't find it, it will look at the serial ports. Graham L (2)
118218 2003-02-04 05:21:00 Had major problems with PS2 mice a few months back. Switched to a serial one and all problems solved.

Posting here showed I was not alone. A few others had the same problems.
