2003-02-04 07:10:00 | trying to download anything is a waste of time since I seem to be getting disconnected from paradise.net after fifteen minutes of "inactivity" (read - not pinging any particular site, just retreiving data from it) and it is really irritating. Can anybody suggest a freeware program that will stop this? Cheers

2003-02-04 07:16:00 | Downloading data is not "inactivity" unless the remote server is ignoring you for very long periods. Set your e-mail to check every 5 minutes to see if that helps, otherwise look for other reasons, such as phone line interference etc.

2003-02-04 07:19:00 | Have you got your browser set to disconnect after that length of inactivity? That's the most likely problem, and if it is, it can easily be fixed..Just say the word B-) | Naraku Kasai (1028) | |
2003-02-04 07:20:00 | In saying that, I should add that depends on which browser you're using. Also, do you use a seperate program for downloading (Eg. Go!Zilla)? | Naraku Kasai (1028) | |
2003-02-04 07:28:00 | Whoops, looks like i needed to give more info... I am using Netcaptor with internet explorer 5.5, but this is kind of irrelevent since I donwload with Download Accelerater Plus 5. The browser is not set to auto-disconnect, neither is dial-up-networking or anything else. It only happens when DAP is left on its own to download (ie i'm not loading any pages or anything) If anybody's wondering, Netcaptor basically just adds browser tabs to the bottom of my explorer window, kind of like opera.

2003-02-04 09:26:00 | Hello Stormwarden. For a long time I have used a wakeup freeware prog which can be set to jig Paradise after x mins. For a Paradise cutoff of 15 mins set it to say 12 .. Get it at threeclicks.com Cheers tony

2003-02-04 09:45:00 | i doubt that its paradise that is cutting you off. if you are downloading and you get dissconnected i would ask paradise to have a look into it. 9x out of ten i find its the persons pc or connection (eg phone line problems) that do it. if it 15 min on the dot it sounds like dailup networking is disconnecting you. i have seen a fault where "disconnect when idle" is still being used even tho the optoin is unticked.

2003-02-04 10:02:00 | I would suggest that it is a software setting somewhere, as I am also on paradise, and have been connected for 60hrs without a break on more than one occasion. I usually set the email program to check every 1-2 minutes, and have no worries with any auto disconnect. Like someone else mentioned, I have also seen the auto-disconnect operating when the options were deselected, however it only came right after a re-install. (I didnt really try to fix the problem itself tho, had to reinstall for other reasons - there may be a registry setting that controls this and may have been reset by some software) You may want to try turning on the auto-disconnect - set it for a minute of idle time - let it disconnect itself a few times and then turn it off again - this may correct the problem by altering all the settings. HTH Craig.

2003-02-05 07:15:00 | I agree with craig b . I have finished a 40 hour download with paradise this weekend- no problems. Check you connection configuration settings. Double check by connecting only(no browser) and leave for 15mins and see what happens.
