118248 2003-02-04 06:36:00 A friend sent me an email with an executable attachment.
I get this in my email:
"Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:filename"

I can't see any way of getting access to this file. It is apparently a Level 1 file type and on first look you are knackered unless you have Exchange Server (I don't).

Rather than ask you lot (I've been hassled about that lately) I checked it out.

At microsoft.com, there is a registry hack

support.microsoft.com

You can disable any extensions you want to. Annoying, though.

somewhere in the preferances of outlook you will find a section that allows you to block all potentually dangerous attachments.

118253 2003-02-04 09:13:00 Robo, If you have access to "Tweak XP" under the Internet Tweaks Tab there is a section labeled "Outlook XP Security Tweak". This tweak allows you to specify which file types you want to block/unblock.

118254 2003-02-04 18:08:00 I'm running Office XP on Windows 98. But I do have an XP machine here that I am supposed to use. I'll try to track down Tweak XP.
