118626 2003-02-05 12:39:00 Well, I have had an interesting evening :)

Totally stuffed up removing the Win2K from a dual boot system. Win2K didn't appreciate my attempts at altering the default setting in boot.ini so decided to do a reinstall of ME on a Packard Bell Athlon 1100 :8}

Grabbed the System Restore disk, popped it in and rebooted. It turned around and said that my system specs were different to what it had on record so it wasn't going to play ball. Luckily I had a hard drive that was the right size and I managed to load the OS and programs, but then it wouldn't boot.

Fortunately I had an extra partition, so I loaded linux and then copied the contents onto the first drive and when I rebooted it finally started up.

Now, there has to be an easier way to do this, surely. Like adjusting the settings on the system restore boot disk?

118628 2003-02-05 13:45:00 The problem seems to be that I replaced the original 30Gb drive with a 40. As I did as you suggested running FDisk and formatting. The PB Restore boots from a floppy before accessing the Restore CD's.

As I mentioned the computer is up and running again, but I thought I would see if there was a better solution than the one I used. Thanks for the suggestion though BootyLicious.
