118982 2003-02-07 03:36:00 I am unable to access 2 sites (1) www.worldfriends.info (2) www.consumer.org.nz
All I get is a blank page in each case. I have tried numerous other sites and have no problems. XTRA have checked my settings several times to no avail.
On the internet I have tried PING with both sites. In each case 4 pkts sent and worldfriends returned 4 but consumers lost the lot.
XTRA technicians admit to being completely puzzled by what is happening.

118983 2003-02-07 03:43:00 www.consumer.org.nz

The consumer one loads ok providing you click on the Auto Refresh link assuming of course that the auto refresh link loads on your screen.

The other one, worldfriends is just a blank page for me as well.

118984 2003-02-07 03:44:00 no problem here. XTRA's dns servers could be playing up (i've had that problem with them before).

what is your browser?

118985 2003-02-07 03:46:00 try entering these ips directly into your browser:

64.27.98.202

216 131.122.65

If these work, there is a dns resolution / cache problem

118986 2003-02-07 03:53:00 Make that 202.180.126.68 NOT 64.27.98.202 :8} wuppo (41)
118987 2003-02-12 21:48:00 Its me back again. The originator of the problem. XTRA suggested I download the latest IE6 from Microsoft. I was already using IE6 from a locally supplied CD. Still it was worth trying. Took nearly 2 hours to download and install but it all worked perfectly.
RESULT ?
PROBLEM SOLVED.
Strange things these programs do at times.

118988 2003-02-12 22:14:00 pity you didn't mention your browser earlier as i would have run the repair optoin on IE. might have saved you 2 hours of downloading.

however glad to see its all working ok now. just make sure you get the updates for IE.

The version of Windows has not been mentioned either. On my Win XP there is no Repair option for IE that I can find anywhere.
