119262 2003-02-08 02:40:00 Hi all

Computer will freeze on a frame or the system will go to a blue screen and do a "memory dump" what ever that is, then will restart.

This happens using both Win Media Player 8 and DivX after about 5 minutes of video play.

"Alt Ctrl Del" will do nothing.

CPU temp seems to be OK, around 45 during play.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have this on disc, so I'll do that.

> any info in the blue screen and memory dump?
After 5 or so mins of watching a movie. If it does'nt lock the system, I get hit with a blue screen wit loads of white text and at the bottom of the screen it says "Dumping physical memory to disc" and has a counter, counting up to a hundred for this process.

This "dumping of physical memory" will take about 3 mins then will restart the computer.

If you need to know more, I will pay more attention next time.

codec pack??? Unsure or not that I know of!

119266 2003-02-08 03:24:00 codec pack is simply a collection of codecs. sometimes you will get codecs that clash causeing all sorts of fun ;-)

what video card do you have and what drivers are installed?

119267 2003-02-08 03:54:00 Avi files (divx) can be trouble in xp. there is a fix to let xp behave much better so it's possible to move or delete large avi files. The obnoxious bug in XP that causes Explorer to read the entire contents of broken AVI files before allowing any access to them is caused by bad behavior of shmedia.dll.

To correct this misbehavior in Windows XP, remove the following
registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D9
4-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32

This will prevent Explorer from loading shmedia.dll in response to file property queries on these files.

119268 2003-02-08 04:04:00 Have a Leadtek Winfast Nvidia Ge-Force2 Ti 64meg

Driver is Ummmmmm

Driver Provider: NVIDIA
Driver Date: 14/09/2001
Driver Version: 2.8.1.3 (this does not sound right or does it)?
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows XP Publisher

If I go to the "Driver Details" Tab under My Computer
It says.....

File Version 6.13.10.2958

Can I use a Detonator Driver for this card??

i don't remember a Ti series for geforce2 ?:|

i would update the driver any way. Detonators should be ok. tho they may not play nicely with the winfast app if you have that installed.
