119201 2003-02-07 21:57:00 Dumb Question - would someone please explain to me how to take a screen shot (I am using Windows XP Pro)?

I used to know how to do it on a Mac, but can't figure it out on this box.

Thanks for any assistance

John

To make a copy of the active window, press ALT+PRINT SCREEN .
To copy the entire screen as it appears on your monitor, press PRINT SCREEN .

To paste the image into a document, click the Edit menu in the document window, and then click Paste . i . e open paint click edit then paste .

119203 2003-02-07 22:36:00 Oh dear I knew it was a dumb question; I forgot that key that lurks outside the periphery of my vision - though its name is not exactly informative:
PrtScn
SysRq

Thanks J ZEP

119204 2003-02-07 22:47:00 Hmmm. Nothing seems to happen with either key combo. Unless it is storing the resulting picture somewhere obscure.

Where do they get stored by default on your PC, J ZEP?

119206 2003-02-07 23:13:00 Thank you Kiwitas - got it, tried it, it worked. I will now depart the field of battle cowed and abashed...

I only wanted to take screenshots of network settings etc so that I have a printed record.

My system is becoming really unstable, and I can feel a format and re-install coming on. As my network is a source of constant mystery to me (I cannot work out everything I did to get the wired LAN to work, let alone connect the wireless part to it...) I thought I should have a proper record of how it looks whilst it is working!!!!

Thanks again
John
