119148 2003-02-07 12:04:00 That looks suspiciously like a Grub boot loader. Are you sure you're using lilo and not Grub? Gorela (901)
119149 2003-02-07 12:10:00 Yep, I ticked LILO particularly during setup, (GRUB is the setup default, and I've it on other instalations), but decided to go with LILO because it can be uninstalled, whereas GRUB can't. nz_liam (845)
119150 2003-02-07 12:11:00 Are you sure?
I couldnt find it the first time either. I did a search using wildcards.
Have you got a separate boot partition?
Try again from root partiton(/).

Dont know if Linux also has "hiding system files".

119151 2003-02-07 12:17:00 Running a search for bootsect.lnx now. nz_liam (845)
119152 2003-02-07 12:25:00 Yeah its in root partition then (/) pluto (2246)
119153 2003-02-07 12:36:00 When 2K doesn't write to the mbr anymore. It boots from the boot.ini

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

Here is my lilo.config from the dual boot system. I have lilo in the mbr though

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
vga=normal
default=linux
keytable=/boot/us.klt
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw
ignore-table
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux
root=/dev/hdb5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="quiet devfs=mount"
vga=788
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux-nonfb
root=/dev/hdb5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="devfs=mount"
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=failsafe
root=/dev/hdb5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="failsafe devfs=nomount"
read-only
other=/dev/hda1
label=NT
table=/dev/hda

As you can see [ulr=http://sal.neoburn.net/pf1images/nz_liam-boot-root.png]here[/url], it's not in /boot or /root, any ideas?

119156 2003-02-07 12:48:00 Umm, well in url it shows "/boot" and contents of it.
Type "/" in that location bar and hit enter.

If its not there then i dont know, Maybe you have got some other system config. But thats how i got mine.
