1329419 2013-02-21 22:06:00 Hi,

I'm keen to save costs and use my Android 10" tablet as the teleprompter screen for filming .

The set up we've done previously is set up a skype video call between the Mac (which as a teleprompting software) and the Android, and using Skype's Share Screen setting, however it is not very reliable - the call drops, and it lags sometimes .

I have heard of using an Ad-hoc system - don't understand this, could someone explain the concept of this?

I am thinking of finding a way to make the Android tablet a second monitor, effectively, and then move the mirrored talent window to the second monitor (the tablet) . Would that be the way to go? Any good software/apps that someone here has tried & tested?

Thanks
caffy

1329420 2013-02-21 22:34:00 Er, hold the horses. Just been told about AirDisplay which I've just tried and works perfectly on this PC and the tablet. Need to test it on the Mac. caffy (2665)

So looking into making the tablet 2nd monitor via HDMI cable, with something like this (pbtech.co.nz) - would the Mac recognise the tablet as a 2nd monitor or duplicate it instead?

Also, if I want to set up an ad-hoc network (I suspect the wireless internet connection here may be too slow, hence the lag), can I set it up on the Mac, and then get the tablet to join this network? Or do I have to change things on the tablet too?

We played around with ad-hoc and finally got it working. Seems too much of a bother so looking more and more into getting a HDMI connection between the tablet and the laptop. Toying with the idea of buying a 11" monitor instead...do such things exist??? :)
