1302735 2012-09-22 08:51:00 Can anyone explain why most pictures or videos sent to me from my daughter and sister-in-laws iPhone arrive sideways? :thanks B.M. (505)

1302738 2012-09-22 09:56:00 Do you get black bars when you have it in portrait? sahilcc7 (15483)
1302739 2012-09-22 10:00:00 It does depend which way up you hold it (worst is upside down video) BUT the main culprit is windows, for some reason their photo viewer doesn't read the orientation EXIF data and makes portrait photo landscape. The Error Guy (14052)

Very good  but there's a further twist to this problem.

You see the latest iPhone video was sent to the brother-in-law who claims there was nothing wrong with it?

He runs Vista. However, it plays bottom of screen to top on my wifes W7 machine with all updates and my XP SP2 machine.

Only iphone video and pictures have this problem and as I say my daughter has the same problem sending from her iPhone.

In both cases they swear they are taking the pictures the right way up.

I think The Error Guy might be onto the problem. ;) I thought it might be a phone setting but maybe not?
