1329550 2013-02-23 23:09:00 So if it has weak signal and i want to get another lappie or something else wireless capable............and do not want to be stuck within a metter of the modem, router........how can i strengthen it????

cos peach just is not coping with anything and i seriously need to get something in place before its too late........... not sure what.......that may need to be another thread.

1329551 2013-02-23 23:44:00 It looks like the orcon wireless is wireless N. Whatever you're trying to connect to it, are they wireless N as well? Mcafee isnt on any of these (well the windows computers is it). If it is remove it. Try changing the channel on the router, if there's an option

According to Google searches people have noticed the same thing. The wireless on this modem is weak. The only way you may make it stronger is get some kind of extender, or replace the modem. If you can use something else besides that one

1329552 2013-02-24 03:46:00 You could experiment with locating the genius somewhere else, assuming a convenient jackpoint and power is available. I have my router up on top of a bookshelf in my office and it works all around the property, even in the back of the skyline garage where I really didn't expect it to. It's not a genius though.

EDIT: Also look for any sources of interference and try turning them off temporarily to see if it helps, cordless phones in particular can upset wi-fi if they are in the same frequency band as can almost any source of RF particularly if located near the router (so don't install it on top of the microwave).
