1303690 2012-09-29 08:19:00 Whirlwind and Hornet?

Indeed the Westland Wirlwind and the DH Hornet.

The Whirlwind was put in to confuse the issue. The prototype Hornet flew in July1944, so I suppose technically it was the fastest (piston engined) plane of WW2 at 485mph. The fairing at the fuselage tail junction I suppose is the immediate distinguishing feature from the Mosquito.

1303691 2012-09-30 05:00:00 I see spity belly landed. Fortunately it was a replica, not the real thing. It will be back in the air soon enough.

Cheers

Is it different in some way, if not I would have thought it was a Spitfire.

It isn't full size, but I don't know what the scale is, neither do I know what the engine is, but it isn't a Merlin. So it isn't really a replica either.

I'm sure someone will have all the details.

1303697 2012-09-30 07:52:00 Here is a video of the spit replica ZK-spt. Sounds as if it has a V8 in it.
