I've been reading about a few things lately to do with Welfare / Beneficiaries etc Fascinating stuff, and it's easy to see it's a learned / cultural behaviour! |

I rather liked the orange juice, it wasn't too sweet from memory, but didn't like the codliver oil. My mum never cooked Woolton pie, so we never had that pleasure. Her speciality was what she called 'meat and potato pie' consisting of mostly mashed potato with tinned corned beef mixed up with it and cooked in a thick pastry made from flour and lard. It was served with gravy and whatever vegetables were available. I can't recall saying that eating bread and dripping was a cause of under achievement as pctek implied. Quite the reverse I'd say, 'I didn't get where I am today if it wasn't for the bread and dripping' (acknowledgements to Reggie Perrin www.youtube.com ) |
