1329530 2013-02-23 00:07:00 a while ago i got back online after having no net or phone....... have got BB with Orcon........ set up peach / modem etc all go.... plugged in and works fine.

checking the modem it says wireless enabled and all systems go......

what i wanted was the kids phones to be able to acess it........ how do i get this to happen? and my phone to i guess.

one is 2d's and one is a telecon.....conection........ will a signal be wafting about in the air so to speak for them to search for? ive never had to look or search or set up a wifi / wireless conection before....

help please direct me in the correct direction of what steps i need to complete

thank you

1329531 2013-02-23 00:13:00 Go into its settings / wireless. Make it secure then put the password in. Do the same for the modem if its got the option Speedy Gonzales (78)
1329532 2013-02-23 00:28:00 Lost............ modem currently is secure has password..etc

1329533 2013-02-23 00:29:00 Yup if the phone has wireless turn it on, it may / or should search for wireless networks etc. If it finds yours select it then put the password in. So it connects Speedy Gonzales (78)
1329534 2013-02-23 00:56:00 Ok we have tried a phone and a ipod.. they see the signal ... correctly named......password complete etc but cannot connect........ and i cant even find how to do this on my phone..lol i not doing so well..lol beetle (243)
1329535 2013-02-23 01:22:00 If the router is on WPA 2 or WPA make sure the phone and the Ipod are on the same security Speedy Gonzales (78)
1329536 2013-02-23 01:22:00 Check whether your password on the modem/router, and other device, is exactly the same (especially upper and lower case letters (pretty sure is case-sensitive)). feersumendjinn (64)
1329537 2013-02-23 01:22:00 If it cant connect, it could be the encryption is to secure. One way to test is to disable the security on the Router/ Wireless - see if they connect, if so then put it back on but at a lower, WPA2 should be OK for most devices. wainuitech (129)
1329538 2013-02-23 01:35:00 Will check that when the tidal wave of teens come back from where ever they go on days like this............ weekends....lol

thanks guys :)

but if they can see the signal wouldnt that auto matically mean they on same frequency? or whatever it is they see....

1329539 2013-02-23 01:47:00 Flash teen mob is it lol..

But yep, if the signal is working and they do a scan for available networks it should show it, unless the setting in the router is set to "dont display SSID" words to that effect.

If the signal is showing then generally its either a password problem or the security is to strong.

Mind you it "could" be the router as well - I have a notebook here, connects fine to my wireless, but not to the owners even with no security. I know what the problem is, its just finding a fix - thats another story :)
