1303292 2012-09-25 05:48:00 I've got a couple of those. My favourite (not in the photo) is a TenkeyMatic, a 10-digit electro-mechanical machine that does division!

The Multo in the photo (with the handle) was the standard surveying calculator until the HP35 was introduced in about 1973. My flatmate, a surveyor, added me to a surveyor's order of HP35s ($340 a piece). When delivered, it had been changed to a HP45. I've still got it

Also in the photo, on the left, is a Bauer 16mm projector. Anybody want it? Free to a good home...(in Wellington)

1303293 2012-09-25 23:04:00 But who is going to be the first going to be before iCulator becomes a registered trademark!? Possibly we're all too late, but if anyone wants to invest along with me... let me know  Greg (193)
1303294 2012-09-25 23:25:00 Brings back memories; the Monroe, both hand cranked and electrically cranked. Believe it or not it was possible to calculate a square root on these! (can't remember how) One these was guaranteed to annoy if set one to divide by zero, which when division is done by repeated subtraction, never ends, and is very noisy. Also the Ohdner? hand cranked machine used mainly in survey calculations.

Not a slide rule in sight! I have 3; 2 Diwa, one 5inch and one 10 inch and a PIC 10 inch. I also still use my HP 28c calculator bought in 1986 for just over $500.

1303295 2012-09-25 23:43:00 Here's my slide rule from when I was at school, loved it so much I brought it with me to New Zealand from Northern Rhodesia, it's in my desk bottom drawer, every now and again I have a look at it for old times sake.

1303296 2012-09-26 01:20:00 My Diwa 10 inch was called a "Polylog", as it has 6 log-log scales, it looks very similar to the faber-castell shown. I bought it in 1958 or '59 in my last two years at University. Brucem (8688)
