| 119555 | 2003-02-09 06:17:00 | The V.90 standard is 56kbit (approx 7KB/sec) download and 36.6kbit (approx 4.6KB/sec). Speeds vary due to the phone line condition and all the interference and other things. The V.92 standard is the same except uploads are 48.8kbit (approx 6.1KB/sec). I'm not sure if there is any ISP that does the V.92 standard yet, it's probably still being tested or put on hold because the V.92 features wouldn't be liked by big money hungry phone companies. V.92 supports the V.90 standard so you can still have a V.92 modem but it'll only use the V.90 standard until you get an ISP that supports V.92. |
