119517 2003-02-09 03:57:00 Hi everyone,

My IE explorer is being hijacked by a 'internet accelerator' I downloaded (which was useless) and hijacked my IE homepage. (No trojans though, I checked)

I've tried editing it via registry (HKEY_Current_User > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Main > Start Page) and it's still not working.

Everytime I start IE, it runs my default page (google), then when It directs me to google.co.nz, it instantly changes it to www.searchex.com.

Some help here please?

Before you can delete the two DLLs Searchex installs, you must deregister them . To do this, open a DOS command prompt (from Start-Programs->Accessories) and enter:

cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u IEBrw . dll
regsvr32 /u HomePage . dll
You can then restart and delete the files IEBrw . dll and HomePage . dll from the System folder (Windows\System under Windows 95/98/Me, or Windows\System32 under Windows NT/2000/XP) .

Finally, reset your homepage (Internet Options->General->Start page) and search settings (Internet Options->Programs->Reset Web Settings) .
