Technically it IS illegal according to an article in last month's FFWD magazine. However, common sense SHOULD prevail in that situation where if you own the LP, you should be able make a recording, etc... downloading a copy... I dunno... don't want to go there and hazard a guess as to its legality.

Hmmm... what bitrate are you downloading at here? Also, depends on how you are playing back the mp3s. This argument is pretty much a standard one for those supporting P2P as a means of downloading music. Not saying it's wrong, just saying that it's what other's say.

Eminem doesn't encourage the downloading of his music. He mocked it because his latest album still sold millions of copies more than his nearest rival, Nelly.

Hmmm... so on one hand it's ok to download music which you don't own, but on the other, it's not ok to discuss the conversion of music to mp3 format? Millsie, you'd better get some consistency into your argument. FWIW, Sony's copy protection was designed to prevent the duplication or sharing of music between users. What's even funnier is that Sony produce minidisc and Cd-writers as well with software specifically designed for the copying of music, etc.

One must take it that they are shooting themselves in the foot with the whole copyright issue.

The question asked on this thread was basically, "How do you download an entire album of a particular artist from Kazaa." Well... from that, I assumed the person asking the question didn't own the album. It'd be like me asking, "How do I download games from Kazaa." Not really the thing to be asking, but that's just my opinion.

Good point! My brother has a Sony CD/MD player, and it has a little button specifically for copying a CD to a MD, on top of that when I brought my MiniDisc player, (in the UK a a fraction of the price), I came with a fiber cable so I could plug it into other SPDIF devices, (like my friends Sony CD player, or my pc). Its a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

Seems to me that sony use the copyright act when its convenient, but turn a blind eye when selling products soley designed for copying music, ha!

To quote his some "Real Slim Shady" when he's talking about Christina Augilera, he does it himself:
I should download her audio on MP3 and show the whole world how you gave Eminem...

Just thought u guys might like to know that :-)
