Howeverthis is not relevant to mums question The search methords i suggested above may give joy with kazaa All i can suggest is try them and good luck. I've allready got several thousand mp3s and mainly use kaza for video. .Clueless |

Ah, so it's and ad-in, not a native function, didn't think M$ was quite up to it yet :p |

Kind of, But i'm just trying to point to the fact that the thread a few weeks ago, isn't even the same league as this yet people frowned upon my thread and not this. |

| 119649 | 2003-02-09 23:51:00 | My $0.02 hehe. What about people like me who own about 5000 LP's (or records as some like to call them) and the LP player is getting to be on its last legs. Cost to fix or buy a new one? Don't even want to go there!! So I have started downloading all songs / albums via Kazaa or Shareaza. Is this illegal? I think not because I own the original. |

| 119650 | 2003-02-10 00:03:00 | With my iMac, I have downloaded countless mp3s through a p2p ptogram called Limewire. I have discovered really beautiful music through Limewire, that I didn't know existed and a lot of the mp3 tracks I have downloaded, I have gone out and brought the CD (as the quality of the mp3 isn't really up to audiophile standards. Downloading mp3s is really a breach of copyright, and while the Michael Jacksons and Pink Floyds of this world class it as theft of royalty income, many indies put music on the net for free download. I might be wrong, but isn't Eminem one that encourages downloading of his music. And contributor Lohsing, copying music you have purchased onto either you harddrive or as a mixed CD is just as much copyright theft as downloading the mp3 off Kazaa or Limewire. When you buy the CD you don't buy the music, you buy the disc its recorded on. Why do you think Sony has got a neew copy protection, encryted into the CD you purchase? Millsie |

When you buy the CD you > don't buy the music, you buy the disc its recorded > on. Why do you think Sony has got a neew copy > protection, encryted into the CD you purchase? Your completely wrong there. Your saying your paying for the CD, lets say at $25. then why can i buy a CD-r for $1.50 at DSE!!!!! Your paying for the music thats on there, not the physical CD, gees thats worth about 2c Sony tries putting copy protection on the CD so that the music is limited to the forum it is delivered on. As for the person that suggested that downloading the MP3 version of there LP's was ok. Yes i agree, as my above comments say you've payed for the music it'self. The same goes for the software industry (that has been discussed on another thread). It's ok to make a backup copy, but to give that copy to someone else is illegal. |

| 119653 | 2003-02-10 00:55:00 | Actually, last time I checked the stats, the artist got about 35%?! Is this right?? The rest goes into marketing, cost of making the CD, and then into the music company itself... Would that be about right? | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 119654 | 2003-02-10 00:57:00 | Well Millsie you seem to think your an expert. Why does a Cd-R cost as low as 50c but a normal CD cost $25. damn better go close that hole in my neck its spitting out such valid comments |
