2003-02-09 09:26:00 | On my task bar it says my HTTP 404 Not Found.. whats this all about? | starfish (3019) | |
2003-02-09 09:30:00 | A 404 error means the website doesnt exist that you're trying to go to :-) | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2003-02-09 09:36:00 | You will be getting that message, because you deleted a Java manager (as a result of a virus hoax) and you will be unable to view many web sites untill you reinstall the file you deleted | Millsie (3111) | |
2003-02-09 09:45:00 | I haven't heard of the hoax - persue this line if it's happening a lot. Most errors when accessing pages are from either the 400 or 500 series as listed here (www.design-on-line.co.uk)

2003-02-09 12:20:00 | Sorry you are talking rubbish the 404 error is a page not found which could just mean a server is down at the moment. | mikebartnz (21) | |
2003-02-09 19:53:00 | Excuse me!!!!? A 404 usually means that the PAGE is not available, not the whole site. Most sites have a "404" default message that IE overwrites. If you want to see the real message, which actually ties down to meaning something go to tools > internet options > advanced tab > and about 18 options down untick "show friendly http error messages". You will then see the message that the server produces which may be 1/Funny. 2/Informative. .Clueless

2003-02-09 20:12:00 | This problem seems to have rectified itself since recovering from a virus hoax that I had. Thanks for your help with this. | starfish (3019) | |
2003-02-09 20:54:00 | Okay, to be more presice, it means that the individual page (Not site sorry..) that you're going to is not available at this time, due to a server being down, broken link, or and invalid link altogether. Deleting that file shouldnt affect those, rather I would think that itd make pages display incorrectly, not disapear altogether :-) Anybody else care to comment? I could be wrong here?!

2003-02-09 22:48:00 | You will notice I did say Page Not Found but quite often when one page is not found for a site others aren't either. | mikebartnz (21) | |
2003-02-10 00:27:00 | I also get that when my connection times out for some reason.. ?! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
