| 119448 | 2003-02-08 21:47:00 | Hi ~ I have a number of addresses in my Outlook Address Book which I want to take out but keep on file in an address group I'ld call (say) 'archive', rather than delete permanently. Having created the archive group I have tried via both 'Contacts' & 'Address Book' itself to cut & paste the addresses accross, or to drag & drop, or to add to the new (archive) group by 'selecting new' from affress list etc, but it just wont happen ~ I can find NO way to do it except by entering each manually as a new member of the archive group & then deleting from the general contacts/address list. Sometimes they then even delete from the archive group when I biff them from the main addressbook list. Surely there is a reliable way of copying & deleting these entries, PULEASE! Cheers Broo C em |

| 119449 | 2003-02-08 23:09:00 | I have no trouble dragging and dropping but you appear to be right in that if you delete from the main address book you also delete the same entry in any sub folders. What you could do is simply get a floppy disk and select the addresses you want to backup and copy and paste them to the floppy, they will save there as *vcf files. You can create folders on that floppy to keep various names separated and grouped as well. |

| 119450 | 2003-02-08 23:39:00 | I find that if I try to drag & drop within the 'Address Book' list, when I hold down left click to drag it just highlights all the names below, as if it is a control/copy command . Also, if I try to drag & drop within the 'Contacts' list, I get the wee envelope on the curser to imply that something IS being dragged, but once it is 'dropped' on/into the archive group nothing has changed or moved . I also am unable to see any cut/paste options thru right-click or pulldowns . . . I might just have to write the details on paper (or mebbe in a word file or notepad etc), then 'delete', then add in as a new entry in the 'archive' group . . . . . if it is just one of those Win oversights I can live with it I spose, as long as it aint something which I'm unable to suss out myself . .
