2003-02-08 20:28:00 | Did you remove previous Video card drivers before installing new ones? If not done in the correct order, you will get all sorts of conflicts. Bye

2003-02-08 21:20:00 | Originally I did not remove the old pci card or driver...........now it's gone and I uninstalled/re-installed AGP. Notes: best improvement has been from undated driver.........now only crashes once every 20mins..........probably would not crash at all if no disk activity!.... but of what use? Have been researching and trying hints from websites for about 8 hours now. Learnt a lot if nothing else! Ideas, hints invited.

2003-02-08 21:38:00 | Try updating the chipset drivers for the motherboard. And the AGP card should be using DMA. You could check this with a program called Powerstrip which is shareware from Entech Taiwan. | John Grieve (367) | |
2003-02-08 22:14:00 | You mentioned that the AGP card is using IRQ 9. To the best of my knowledge, they do not require one. Just looked at my system - using SiSoft - and it is not used. SiSoft Sandra is a freebie with PC User Feb edition and very usefull for conflict checking etc. Bye

2003-02-09 03:49:00 | Hit the nail on the head with recommendation to update chipset drivers.......... got them off www.amd.com No problems since..........running OK for about 3 hours now!!.....thanks John. Had powerstrip but uninstalled in an effort to fix crashes.....may re-install now or if need arises.........real good tweaker program!
