2003-02-10 07:03:00 | It's obvious that people need an edit box to edit their information. Moderators must be able to edit information right? I think that users should also be able to edit their messages they have posted. Sometimes saves them replying to a post just to explain more about the problem. Another feature that I think would be good is that a User should be able to select which PF1'er has given an answer that has fixed their problem. A lot of people don't say if their problem was fixed and to me that usually means they still have the problem and still need answers. That way if the problem is answered then people don't have to keep suggesting answers. Also makes it easier for people who have the same problem to find the answer quicker.

2003-02-10 10:18:00 | You can see who replied to who when you view in 'threaded' mode. ;) | -=JM=- (16) | |

After answering or responding, the original post might then be altered to be what was "really meant" making all the replies seem irreleveant. I think its better to just realise that once posted, what is IS. We should get it right first time ey? Also i don't think IDG staff have got huge amounts of time on their hands to alter Pressf1 when it is actually working, it seems that it is more than enough just to expect them to maintain the site for us :) .Clueless |

2003-02-11 02:07:00 | Guys - there are lots of things that would make PF1 better, but honestly, right now our small group of developers is working on other projects and we won't be making feature changes to F1 in the near future. | Biggles (121) | |
2003-02-11 02:48:00 | The sure path to perdition is creeping featurism . Of course everything can be "improved" . But I prefer things which work . PressF1 works . Most of the time . ;-) When our ESP doesn't work, we ask the questioner . No code will get people to say "Whoopee, so and so fixed it . " As for editing, once I've clicked on Post Message, it's gone . If I didn't mean it, I wouldn't have sent it . Again, no code can make people think about what they have typed at maximum speed (especially the people who are such a hurry that they encipher their problem into "txt") . So sometimes the content is hard to find .

2003-02-11 09:31:00 | If it ain't broke, tweak it was my motto. I understand how edit wouldn't be that useful in that sense (what about having an edit that disables the changing of their text) but even saying if irrelevant posts were posted would then require that there's an option to allow the user to pick which answer fixed their problem. So others with same/similar problems could try that. If not they can read the other messages there and maybe they would help. Although this fix may not fix another person with the same problem they could then post a new message or reply to the old one hoping someone will look at it. If I knew how to program in Java I could attempt to do this myself. But I don't know Java but I'll add it to my list of "to learn". I'm currently limited to C/C++, CGI, ASP, ASM, HTML, Javascript and JScript, VBScript, Windows Script, Perl, Python and VB (should I mention BASIC aswell)... I've done a lot of requests for many programs by e-mailing software developers what features I'd like to see in some programs, I just thought It'd be fair if I asked PF1 as well and see what they'd say.
