120503 2003-02-12 03:50:00 Hey everyone,
as you may know, I am about to get jetstart, and have a spare computer ready to put software on so I can share the internet over my network.

I want to use Jetstart, which uses a PPPoA connection.
The options i know of are:
Smoothwall,
SME Server
Mandrake SNF

What are your preferences, and please help me decide.

Thanks heaps!
Jonathan

120504 2003-02-12 07:33:00 Hey JoGiles,

Of those you mention I have only used Smoothwall (which is now at GPL1 . 0) and have found it to be quite good .

I have been playing with Mandrake 9 . 0 for the past 4 months and have found that even when set-up as a Server/Workstation with the security set to Higher during the initial install is quite amazing . I'm rather impressed as I have done a few scans and it has been transparent .

If Mandrakes normal distro can easily be set-up like that I would imagine that their SNF product should be rather good as well .

120505 2003-02-12 07:49:00 I've found IPcop (http://www.ipcop.org) to be much better than Smoothwall. Smoothwall is actually developed by a company and so they take out features which they only give you if you buy the commercial version. segfault (655)
