| 120162 | 2003-02-11 06:12:00 | High I have a couple of things I need a hand with, 1st where do you find the scandisk facility with windows xp??? Secondly have been experiancing some crash over the last few days, xp locking up breifly then going into safe mode and asking me to save work and restart, on restarting the pc beeps once then six times continuosly and nothing happens, monitor light goes from green to amber, have checked the motherboard monitor page and system temp is around 39c but cpu temp is around 60c , could this be haveing affect, running a duron 1.2 g processor? |

| 120163 | 2003-02-11 06:52:00 | Scandisk should be located in Start/Programs/Acessories/System Tools/ You'll need to consult your BIOS Manufacturers beep codes to understand the problem. Does the Screen display what it is or is it hidden by the proprietorship splash screen (e.g. Compaq, Packard Bell, Hewlett Packard, etc). Some screens can be turned off in the BIOS, others you just have to imagine what problems is going on behind their curtain. I do think it's unfair that they can hide such detail from you since the BIOS POST test is one of the most important computer tests it could do and they have to hide it. |

| 120164 | 2003-02-11 08:16:00 | Sorry to say that there is no scandisk in Win XP. You go to Start > Run and type "chkdsk /f" ( without the quotes ) instead. You could go to Sart > Help and type "Scandisk" in the search box and it will tell you that there are new ways to do familiar tasks. Your CPU temp is within limits for the processor. Do a search on google fro "Beep codes" or even search just PressF1 for beep codes. It has been mentioned before. |
