120193 2003-02-11 20:16:00 Yeah, I like the fact that Phoenix (My Browser) has the search up the top-right for google, but its still my homepage... Dunno why come to think of it?!

I guess it loads pretty quickly, even at home on 56K.

Downside of the google search from within Phoenix is that it uses .com, so there's less local content. Im pretty sure that's what the difference between .co.nz and the .com one is.

Who uses google.com and who uses google.co.nz?

120194 2003-02-11 21:04:00 How do I go about buying shares in Google? :D I rarely use any other search engine myself. Once upon a time I used to used AltaVista (because av was quicker to type than google. ;))

Cheers

You should be able to change that in the prefs.js file I think. I prefer to go to google.co.nz myself and see what the logo is:D

I don't think there is any difference in the search results from google.com as opposed to google.co.nz it's just that it means less traffic charges for google and NZ relevant sponsored links.

If you want NZ results use the site:nz limiter.

I modified the google.src file so that all the references to google.com (Except the programmers email addy) are now going to google.co.nz
Seems to have worked fine :-)

120199 2003-02-12 00:03:00 google.co.nz is a mirror of the google.com database. It's an exact copy. Using it saves international traffic. That will keep costs to NZ ISPs down, therefore should keep costs to NZ users down. That's why the mirror was installed. It should keep the response time to you down by however milliseconds it takes to send packets to the US and back. Graham L (2)
