2003-02-14 07:08:00 | Since it is Valentine's Day :x today, I am taking the liberty to announce my great respect and admiration for Jim B and the contribution he makes to this forum . Day in and day out Jim tirelessly answers all the internet and email questions over and over again, quite often repeating himself every week as the same ones keep cropping up . The patience this guy has amazes me as does the knowledge he possesses on these topics . He is definitely the forum's top guru on these matters . I don't know why Jim doesn't compose some FAQs on all the common questions being asked, but maybe he just enjoys the "job" . As if that weren't enough Jim was kind enough recently to go out of his way to provide a huge bunch of tips for the Mac users . Anyway, thank you Jim, I have learnt a lot from your posts and I hope you stay a regular on this forum for a long time to come . :-) Happy Valentine's Day . :x

2003-02-14 07:11:00 | Hi, Two comments:- the error message says ....."trying to send data to the server" when the user is reported to be trying to receive emails, please confirm this. Have you looked at Q312349 on the MS knowledge base? Regards PC

2003-02-14 07:31:00 | HI Peter Well after my initial joy of Outlook 2000 once again receving emails, the user tells me after she shut down and came back the next morning and booted up, same deal with not recieving emails. And yes, that error message is the one that appears in OL2000. I did not know about that Q page on the MS site - in fact I searched using untold different expressions yet that page did not come up. Go figure. Anyway it sort of have absolute relevance but not altogether. It says for OL2002 (but guessing not that difference between that and OL2000) and also it goes on muchly about OE....but yes, will try this next. Will post results!

2003-02-14 08:38:00 | Thank you Susan, very nice of you and appreciate the comments but there are many others that contribute as much or more than myself, but only because it is Valentines day will I accept the undeserved praise in the spirit in which it was given. :8} | Jim B (153) | |
2003-02-14 09:38:00 | "trying to send data to the server" this just might mean that it is trying to send login data such as account name and password to the mail server to start the mail download. A point worth noting, Outlook 2000 requires Outlook Express to be installed as Outlook shares some of OE files. It might be useful if the mail account was set up in OE to confirm if mail can be received with this to ensure OE is functional.
