120353 2003-02-11 20:52:00 Please may I ask everyone to be patient with new f1 users, we really are learning and I believe this is what this site is for.
Although I have had no problems with this, I know of a couple of people who have been scared away by users replying to their problems in a cheeky abrupt manner.
Thank you

120354 2003-02-11 21:10:00 I very much agree.

It is hard being a n00b to things like this, and there is a good group of people who pop into Pf1 regularly.

Personally Ive got nothing against being a n00b to anything, especially computer related, as there is a lot to learn about computing in general.

Comments (Im not meaning to pick on you who said it) about "why are you using Win2K when you're a newbie" dont really help.

Personally, Ive had to start over my learning curve recently with Linux, and there's so many different distro's of it, each with their own unique-ness about them, its scary, so I can understand where y'all are comin from.

I generally try to think twice about what Im posting before I hit the Post Message button, and hitting Preview and re-reading it when its a General Discussion post can give me a chance to think it through again.

I personally feel that no question is too big or small for the users at PressF1!

120360 2003-02-12 03:25:00 A decidedly warped sense of humour has been known to get me into trouble at times :8} but I've generally come to the conclusion that it is impossible to know everything about computers. Every simple question and answer is complex the first time.

There are occassions when I will ask a really simple question to which I don't know the answer as I haven't had need of it prior to asking. It's great that others can answer without me having to spend ages looking it up.

120361 2003-02-12 04:51:00 Yes ~ I'm afraid I must admit..... I do not feel so good about PF1 as good as before, there is more and more useless commments for a pc forum like this. Member are abusing the service. I feel its simply better for me to just stick around and learn instead of help. People here now, not all, but many, are sticking around in "gangs". It is simply not fair. What are the IDG people doing now? Where are the old and helpful people I met years ago.... why are we saying, "go search for yourself in Google"? Whats the point of posting.

Come on guys, lets help out aye...?

*After all, this is my personal comments honestly, please do not reply by abusing me*

120362 2003-02-12 05:19:00 dead right - I've thought the same at times. As a teacher I always tell my students that the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask when you wanted to know something. Just 'cos someone else, or indeed everyone else, knows the answer, the new-comer is serious (usually) when they ask, 'cos they really don't know. So treat them nicely. I used to know everything - then I grew up and grew wiser. These days, its "the older I get, the more I knew". It's a dull day when you learn nothing!
cheers,
andy
