I agree heaps there except that if there was a wav or mp3 then it may be computer related.

>And for the record, I like the OT stuff just as much as everything else, it >brings a bit of light relief into my day .
For the record.... I treat this forum as a help forum for Computers. PressF1 has been that way and that seems to me to be the way it started. I read here several times a day and will answer a call for help if I am reasonably *sure*.

The OT I treat as TV....... We have an OFF button on that and I will use it!!!

120666 2003-02-14 05:06:00 But Millie IS a newbie as we put it. PressF1 is a computer help site.
Millie may know all sorts of things but a google search on OIL or ROSES will probably not bring up PressF1. If Millie wanted to know about these things then I don't think PressF1 will be at the top of the list.

I am NOT a newbie and was going to ask a question here regarding nested IF statements in Excel. I went to Google and reference books I have instead. I found the answer I needed!!

=IF (test, what do do if test is true, what do do if test is false)
What do do if test is true can ALSO be in IF structure as well as what do do if test is false. The answer I got allowed me to put exactly what I needed in the right cells

Millie, ( IMHO ) has the the right to state His/Her opinion don't you think?

For instance.... *I* may have achieved all sorts of qualifications then only post for the first time today. Does this make my opinion less valid?

I just see no reason why Millie or anyone new to this forum can't post an opinion.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

honeylaser. If you didn't want to get involved here then why post?

See my other message about OT.

Mind you. This very much reminds me of Computer Chat now. It (Computer Chat) seems to have gone down the hill and crashed.

I don't want to see the same thing happen here.

My apologies!!!

120668 2003-02-14 05:19:00 One thing I have noticed is that if someone has a differing opinion in this forum, they are classed as starting a flame war.

I think everyone is getting a bit too precious. Millsie has as much of a right to comment on the silliness of the thread, as Lohsing has to start it
Just because you don't agree with what is being said dosen't make it a flame war or ****-stirring. Its a forum ie: discussion

120669 2003-02-14 05:21:00 Yes, but the subject title "President Bush's Latest Speech..." is obviously not about technology related problems.

This kind of debate has popped up regularly in my time at PressF1, but I don't care - unless you go to a completely isolated, underground bunker, without anyone else or any means of communication coming inwards or going out, you are not going to get away from the world.

Every forum, no matter what it's about, will always have threads that are not related to what the forum is supposed to be about. Think of PressF1 as a community, it's not as if we're going to talk about technology all the time. Just like in school, we don't talk about education all the time.

And come to think if it, I am sure someone once mentioned potatoes or pasta here once.

120670 2003-02-14 05:22:00 Ok, now we've all voiced out opinions, lets get back to the topic at hand (President Bush's Latest Speech...) rather that arguing with each other about what's right and wrong:)

Cheers

Millsie might be a long time reader, just because he is new dosen't mean his viewpoint is any less valid.

Yes, everyone does have the right to freedom of speach, and to express their viewpoints .
But we all know were this sort of thing ends, (so lets just drop the arguement now), and not go there .

Why, good discussion is healthy. And free.

120674 2003-02-14 05:27:00 Also, are not technological problems some of the "woes of the world"? You're really contradicting yourself here, Millsie. In the future, just ignore posts that:
a) are prefixed with "OT:" and other abbreviations;
b) you don't think you'd be able to solve from reading the title;
c) you don't think sound interesting/appealing.

Now, although this may be very hard or harsh, it may just suit you, or else adapt - humans survived because we're good at adaptation.
