120858 2003-02-13 07:27:00 I've been using a Kodak DX3215 for months with no hassles, but a few weeks ago something stuffed up and now I can't get my pics off the camera and onto the computer. The camera isn't being recognised at all not even when I start up the transfer software.

I know that the camera, the cable, and the software are fine as I was able to use it with no problems on a friends computer.

I have tried:
- uninstalling and reinstalling all software
- reinstalling the camera itself
- checking it's all plugged in correctly in every way possible

Device manager says my USB ports are fine.

I'm all outta ideas... can anyone suggest anything else to try?

120859 2003-02-13 09:43:00 Bobble As you have tried it on another computer ok would suggest there is a problem with your USB port. Is it onboard or pci card if pci you could try taking card out and reinstalling it. Also have you any other USB devices you could try in the port or borrow one to prove the port. If onboard you may need to get a pci card if you have a spare slot. But you really need to prove the port first.

120860 2003-02-13 10:19:00 What OS are you using?
It is more than likely your twain drivers have become corrupted.
These allow your computer & your camera to communicate.
There is a link on the M/soft site re twain drivers.
Try reinstalling them from the cameras CD.
From memory there are some issues about uninstalling the previous ones first, which is also documented on the M/soft site depending on whick OS you are running. I think "98 has problems with them.
I would have a look & post the link for you but M/softs site has become a nightmare to navigate around & is sooooo slooooow that I try to avoid the place as much as possible.
Also try the cameras website.
Some of them are getting quite good at post FAQs & running forums for users.

120861 2003-02-13 10:45:00 OS is winME

I uninstalled and reinstalled everything so I assumed twain drivers etc would be sorted... but I may just give it another go.

I'm starting to suspect the USB port myself (onboard, btw, and I dont have any other usb thingies to test them with!)

Will have a nosey at the suggested websites, thanks :o) In the meantime if anyone else has any suggestions on a way to check the ports or anything else, fire away :D

Thanks!

120862 2003-02-14 02:36:00 One small suggestion: It seems to help to power up without the device plugged in. If you plug it in after the computer is running, it might wake up the software. I don't think the bugs are out of the USB system yet. ;-) Graham L (2)
120863 2003-02-14 03:15:00 remove the USB ports from Device manager then get windows to detect at start up again roofus (483)
120864 2003-03-09 22:34:00 Hi Bobbie,

I am having exactly the same problem. I've been using Windows XP and my Kodak DX3215 quite happily for 12 months. It worked just a couple of weeks ago but now when I plug the Easy Share Dock or the camera into the USB port I see a message that the USB doesn't recognise the device. I have tried using my scanner using the same USB port and this works.

Have you managed to find a solution to this problem yet?

Here's hoping.

Yes I did, but only because I reformatted the computer and started from scratch as I was having a few other problems at the same time . I'm sure there's an answer for this without such drastic measures though, just takes a bit of fiddling .

Sorry I can't be more help to you, Good luck!

Bobble :D
