2003-02-13 21:13:00 | I know its WAY OT - But when I received this about a week ago . . . I just had to share it . BTW - I bought and drank a whole 1 . 5L coke yesterday . . . hope this doesnt phase you, but here goes: ************************************************** * We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before . WATER 1 . 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated . (Likely applies to half world population . ) 2 . In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger . 3 . Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3% . 4 . One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study . 5 . Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue . 6 . Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers . 7 . A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page . 8 . Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less likely to develop bladder cancer . Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day? COKE 1 . In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident . 2 . You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days . 3 . To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean . The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china . 4 . To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola . 5 . To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion . 6 . To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes . 7 . To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake . Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for sumptuous brown gravy . 8 . To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle . The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains . It will also clean road haze from your windshield . FOR YOUR INFORMATION: 1 . The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid . Its pH is 2 . 8 . It will dissolve a nail in about four days . Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis . 2 . To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials . 3 . The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is, would YOU like a glass of water or coke? ************************************************** * What do you think about that? Personally, Im having Just Juice today :)

If you're lucky, by the time he stops laughing he'll have forgotten about the citation he was going to give you." |

2003-02-13 21:29:00 | O Pooey! Ok obviously water is better for you.. but what a load of scary shock tactics! Ever wondered what stomic acid can do? It makes the acidity of coke look like nothing I dont drink alot of coke, i know how it effects me. The sugar and caffiene send me speeding through a hard nights work, but in the morning i feel like.. not that great .Clueless

2003-02-13 21:41:00 | I'm told there is more caffiene in coke than coffee This may well be true, as coke gets me speedier than coffee. One should note that as i live on a fairly pure diet, any deviation such as caffiene or other common stimulants effect me greatly. But the best one is without dought.. (don't laugh) Spiced tomato juice, if it can get a swet up.. i can work all night. It beats coffee any time! .Clueless

2003-02-13 21:42:00 | Years ago a Dentist we knew tried an experiment with a tooth in coke. His son did a swap - a carved piece of chalk as a replacement. It disolved and experiment ended. And there's no need to scare people about coffee. Everything nasty that's said about the stuff is an urban myth. <*heads to supermarket to ensure we don't run out of this essential supply/*>

2003-02-13 21:44:00 | Whatta loada bollocks...... Everyone's gonna be mildly dehydrated in the morning after 6-ish hours of sleep, and some will spend most of the day trying to get fully rehydrated again by drinking as much water as they can. Metabolism is the body's way of regulating what we need - that's why a dehydrated person's metabolism is slower than that of someone fully hydrated. All that "You must drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy" stuff really annoys me. And then there's Coke, where does one start ..........

2003-02-13 21:53:00 | 6-8 glasses?! Well, My average a day is about 1 maybe?! I can do 2.5L of coke no problem though! Plus there's milk on the brekkie, and also maybe a milo at night. My metabolism is very fast... Im still sitting at the same weight that Ive been at for the past 6 months, but Ive grown a good few centimeters. Ive just turned 16 thou, and as a growing young lad, wouldnt ya think Id be gaining a little bit? I never wake i the morning feeling thirsty? Am I supposed to?

2003-02-13 21:56:00 | Usually drink water myself but miss being on a farm with decent drinking water as most chlorinated town water is revolting. With coffee they did a test on typist years ago and found that after 6 cups in a day the people made more mistakes. V and similar drinks have the equivalent of about seven cups of coffee in them.
