LOL, blame PF1's spell check! Its acre mate, speaking of computers, they are just learning how to use their new PC, (Athalon XP 1800, 256 DDR Ram, 40GB HDD), so next time somone says 'it's too hard' throw that one at them! |

2003-02-14 02:18:00 | Well i'm a water man myself, not a big fan of coke, if i'm going to have something other than water then its probably going to be beer or RARo :-) Clueless: Your comments in regard to stomach acid. While it is true that stomach acid will do more damage than coke, this is only the case if your spewing your ring out all the time! otherwise the acid stays in your stomach!!! In regards to the 6-8 glasses needed a day. it is true that you need this amount, however advertisers "puff" by saying you actually need to drink that amount from there product, when infact that 6-8 glasses (2l) also comes from the food we eat, for example did you know Tomatoes are 98% water!!! same with many fruits and vegetables. That is why you should also steer away from pre-packaged food as its usually dried up, and hence you don't get your water. Yes it is true that your metabolism adapts, but if you aren't getting that 2l over a prolonged period then you senses will be dulled.

2003-02-14 04:15:00 | Umm, hrms, why did Clueless address something to me? I'm thinking he meant it for Chilling_S, as I haven't made a post in this thread before. That said, I have a fast metabolism too... I can eat massive amounts of food and not gain any weight. I don't drink water too much, but then again, other foods do make up for it. I probably drink, on average, 1L a day, except if you get me onto a nice glass of chilled water, I'll end up having a hell of a lot more and ending up with a sore stomach and wondering if my cells are drowning. I don't mind Coke, in fact, it is nice, but I don't have it often. Anyone else found that Pepsi Max tastes like Diet Coke?

2003-02-14 04:57:00 | Personally, I prefer water with my scotch, and coke with my rum. Scotch and coke is palatable, but water and rum just isn't on. The only reason to add either water or coke is so that one remains coherent longer at social gatherings, otherwise there is no need for either. -andy

2003-02-14 06:29:00 | One sip of diet coke and feel sick.... that artificial sugar stuff is really bad..... though diet does have more caffeine I heard. I can easily do 2.25L in a sitting. Can do 2/3 of those per day rather nicely. I've cut back now though...... was spending too much.

2003-02-14 07:58:00 | I am partly to blame for this thread starting due to telling Chill about this month's Consumer report on how much sugar is in drinks. Did you know that a can of coke has 10 teaspoons of sugar in it? Ten teaspoons!! But what amazed me more is that a 250ml serve of "healthy" Fresh Up has seven teaspoons of natural sugar in it so that is not much better. Some other "healthy" fruit drinks contain as much as nine teaspoons of natural sugar per 250ml. :O I think I will stick to water, like I have done for years. ;-)
