| 121515 | 2003-02-15 20:48:00 | I am running XP Home edition on a 733 Pentium. Every now and then it decides that the shut down was incorrect and runs "Scandisk". I have been wanting to run "Scandisk" before I run "Defrag" but I cannot find it? I have tried finding it by using search for a file, but no success. Please can somebody point me in the right direction |

Always run ScanDisk before running the Defragmenter. ScanDisk in Microsoft(R) Windows 2000 and XP Click "Start", then open "My Computer" Right-click on the "hard drive's icon" (usually C:\) Click "Properties", and then click the "Tools" tab Click "Check Now" Place checkmarks in all "checkboxes" Click "Start" Click "Yes" to schedule a full disk scan when the computer is restarted Restart the computer. The disk scan will take a while to complete ------------------------------------------------------ Or follow the link below which deals specifically with your question almost word for word pub147.ezboard.com pic |
