121487 2003-02-15 08:11:00 I have a heavily modified computer . Probably the only remaining component of my original IBM left is the cd -rom. I tried to use my win 98 recovery disc a couple of days ago . Now I get a warning saying that my bios doesnt support my recovery disc . Is there a work around , or has Redmond shagged BillGates? 121489 2003-02-16 02:15:00 Can you make a boot floppy which can then access the recovery disk? I'd try that before giving [i]that company[/b] retail price for something I have already paid for. :D Graham L (2)
121490 2003-02-17 11:48:00 Hello,

In some recovery disks i have noted they can contain the setup files just hidden away or in others a custom system which can make it impractical perhaps to try and recover files from them.

I would suggest looking for setup.exe on the CD if that is of any use to you.

Due to the variations which exist out there though this may not be the only option or the end solution.

121491 2003-02-17 19:17:00 How olds this computer?
When you say recovery disk, do you mean a CD or floppy disk?
If its a CD then its likely that your bios doesn't support bootable CD-roms therefore you will need to use a win9x rescue disk to load into dos then do an install from there.

121492 2003-02-17 22:05:00 if the recovery disk does not support the machine then i would check to see if the setup files are recoverable and use a boot disk which does work for e.g. one from www.bootdisk.com Captive (3159)
