| 121458 | 2003-02-15 04:20:00 | when I`m sending emails an outlook window comes on the screen to tell me that my smtp server has not responded in 60 seconds, would I like to wait another 60 seconds, this message keeps coming on the screen until everything has gone through. To send 7 emails with a short poem on took over 30 mins. Can someone help me `in easy stages` please |

Try this first, with Outlook Express open got to Tools/Accounts Click on the Mail tab Click on Properties on the right Click on Advanced Tab at the top Select the server timeout higher to about 3 mins. Click Apply and OK |

Go into Outlook Express Select Tools Select Account Click on the mail tab Click on Properties Click on Advanced tab Check Server timeout time, it may be on 1 minute, change it to 2 minutes by pulling along the tab. See if this helps. |

| 121463 | 2003-02-16 06:38:00 | >...my emails with a poem or a graphic ... What type of graphic? - .jpg? .bmp? .gif? What size is the graphic? As for the poem - did you just type it in the email or did you attach it as a file? If it was an attached file - what type of file? - Word? ....? What was the size of the file? To check the sizes go to Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where you stored it and navigate to the file itself. If the size isn't shown beside it right click and look at properties. |

Even a small jpg file of say 50kb can seem to take longer compared to a basic email if you are staring at the progress bar. Word files can get big especially if there are graphic's and / or sound included as well. |
