121364 2003-02-15 01:41:00 The taskbar used to show windows which are open but it won't show anymore!
I've tried:
-------------
- Unlocking + dragging the quick launch bar.
- Moved position of taskbar to the side to see if it gets revealed
- Did a system restore
- Scanned the computer for any viruses with latest defs using NAV 2003
- Increased the height of the taskbar to see if that reveals it.

So far, I've come up with no solutions.

Can anyone help?

121365 2003-02-15 02:00:00 You have probably opened a greeting Card link and downloaded a program which can cause this.

Open 'Control Panel' and select 'Add/Remove Programs'. Check for the program entries of WinSrvReg and Friend Greetings.
If found, uninstall the program and reboot
.

As Jim B said... sounds like you have a virus. Fairly harmless though thankfully :)

121367 2003-02-15 02:46:00 There is nothing in Add/Remove programs that you mentioned.
And I'm sure that it's NOT a virus because it only happens on my user account and not on other user accounts

121368 2003-02-15 02:47:00 Whats with using links on this site??

I've had trouble with every link here, and now when I post my own I have the same trouble! It seems to have inserted a space, yet I copied and pasted that link direct. *sigh* You'll have to fiddle with it to see the page (assuming it's not just me that this happens to?)

its a known bug in the forum. to get around it use the formatting options. eg check symantec here (securityresponse.symantec.com)

121371 2003-02-15 03:58:00 I still suspect the greeting card trojan is causing it.
Check the info Here (vil.nai.com)
there may be different names for it and it may not show in add/remove programs. It may have to be removed manually by the instruction here.

121372 2003-02-15 05:09:00 I don't even have the files mentioned on my puter!
Anyway, I created a new account on my PC... I just need to know how to retain mail and newsgroup settings + e-mails sent/received through OE so I can view+use them on the new account.

121373 2003-02-15 18:07:00 I'm not sure of your 'unlocking and dragging' but if I have a number of applications open I use my curser to make the task bar larger. Just place the curser on top of the task bar untill it becomes a double headed arrow, then left click and drag upwards to make the task bar 2 or 3 thicknesses high and it will expose any hidden open applications. Hope this helps? Shooter (3119)
