Are you dealing directly with the agents or via the people who sold you the drive? Even if it is a commercial transaction you don't have to wait while the agent sorts it out. You are entitled to have it sorted via replacement or refund within a reasonable period of time. I consider 14 days more than enough for a decision to be reached and a solution offered.

As a consumer your rights are even stronger. My advice is to be persistent but very polite. It is easy to take a hard line with rude or ignorant customers, but very hard for a supplier to argue with a reasonable person who questions the reasonableness of their actions and the quality of their service. At this stage a refund is long overdue.

Cheers

Oh IC, so if thats the case, backing up all your programs on a regular basis is a waste of time then.
In the context of things, how many top brand HDs expire.
Billy, as far as buying a product is concerned, we take our chances. Any brand (good or bad) can spit the dummy. You could get 1000 replies to your question recommending product X, only to buy the same product as it expires.
Like anything in life, we take our chances. Even RollsRoyce, MB, Ferrari and BMW cars break down

You have well and truly lost the plot my friend. If you can warp my comments to mean that backups are a waste of time, then it is time for me to pull this thread from my watch list and consign you to the tender care of St Jude Thaddeus.

In the meantime I will entrust my backups to the most reliable drive I can find, accepting all the while that there are no guarantees in this life or the next.

Cheers

I think dot_com was meaning that just getting the cheapest drive because you can just rely on the warranty. Would then lead to the backups being a complete waste of time if you're just expecting it to die.

121407 2003-02-22 08:14:00 You are too charitable by half JM, and it does you credit, but go back and reread dot com's post that suggested I just buy the cheapest. It is plain english!

Cheers
