Also posted this problem with microsoft newsgroups and got a reply much as your first note about wkcakrem.exe about putting a shortcut into the startup section of the start menu. Prior, I had made a shortcut on the desktop of wkcalrem.exe, but double clicking it did nothing. Draged the desktop icon to the startup folder of the start menu rebooted and voila it worked The clue was your mentioning of the wkcalrem.exe file that set the subsequent work to a successful conclusion.
