121691 2003-02-16 08:48:00 On backing up My Documents via my network, ie sending the whole folder to my networked pc, I notice that not all the folders within My Documents transfer over. Why could this be?
Both systems running Windows ME.

121692 2003-02-16 19:31:00 Weird!!!

Try copying the My Documents folder from within the "c:\windows" tree.
I can't remember its exactly location (and im on NT at the mo) use search to find it.
This is the original place MY Documents resides, other one you see on your desktop and in explorers are infact links to this place.

121693 2003-02-16 20:46:00 Are you actually opening up My Computer, Clicking on your C: Drive and then copying the My Documents folder thats there.

If you're on NT-based systems, then its C:\Documents and Settings\Usernamehere\My Documents\

Try copying it like that and not from the desktop as roofus explained :D

121694 2003-02-16 20:48:00 Good point Roofus,

If Danger is logging on to his PC or has multiple users this could be a reason for some files being excluded from the save.

Does copying from C:/mydocu~1 also save and transfer items that are in Profiles or could these be kept in a seperate area. ?:|

121695 2003-02-16 20:55:00 From my understanding C:\My Documents is still a link to the c:\windows tree

I don't think danger is using NT, i just stated that I was and hence it might be a bit different, and i know for a fact that the address chilling gave for NT is definately different to win9x
But a search should sniff it out.

121696 2003-02-16 21:02:00 naaw... He's running ME on both MC's, I was just putting it down for the record :-)

121697 2003-02-16 21:05:00 Are you sure chilling (in regards to c:\my docs) I thought it was kept in the windows folder? roofus (483)
121698 2003-02-16 21:06:00 Just for the record ;) Chilling on ME it's accessible from dos at C:\mydocu~1

Even remembered to put the Windows backslash this time :)

121699 2003-02-16 21:08:00 Ah yes, i too know that you CAN access My docs from c:\
but isn't this still a link to the windows folder?
roofus (483)
121700 2003-02-16 21:24:00 Just rebooted into 98, nope its not.

Gorela>
I only reference it as c:\mydocu~1\ if its in DOS, as DOS obviously doesnt like long foldernames or spaces ;-)
